Types of Learning Objects
Assessments allow administrators to conduct Self, 180, and 360 evaluations. The assessments allow for multiple question types, including linear scales, radio buttons, dropdown menus, essay-style answers, and textbox entries. This flexibility enables a comprehensive evaluation of skills and competencies. Assessments are an add-on for ClearCompany Learning. Refer to: ClearCompany Learning: Cultivate Overview.
Class learning objects allow administrators to track live instructor-led training. Class objects include live training opportunities that exist on-site, “in the field,” or in a classroom. Class objects are helpful for any onsite training that needs to be documented for compliance.
The Course learning object is an object that can have multiple objects bundled together. ClearCompany Learning usually recommends a course object as an object for individual video uploads. It is not best practice to use steps for related training, but rather companion forms of training that support one another. Courses are helpful for delivering consistent, self-paced onboarding training to new employees, especially in remote or distributed teams, for example, a document and a quiz taken together.
Curriculum learning objects are a group of learning objects, organized in a series or bundle, which may be completed by the learner in any order. Curriculums are helpful for a series or bundle that does not require the user to complete training in a specific order.
Document learning objects are used for reading/reference material to complement a complex object. For example, PowerPoint, Word documents, and PDFs. Documents are useful when an organization needs to keep records for compliance reasons.
Evaluation learning objects are multi-point, scorable, knowledge check objects with User & Manager sign-off. Evaluations are helpful if a user is required to certify that they have demonstrated a skill in a training.
Link learning objects are created to access any third-party training or related content outside of the Learning system. Links are useful for sending learners to learning materials hosted outside of the Learning platform, for example, a news article, blog post, website, or hosted video.
Quiz learning objects allow administrators to create questions to assess users. Typically, a quiz learning object will be added to a curriculum or success track. When the learners review any other training materials (videos, documents, etc) in the track or curriculum, they will need to take the quiz to complete it. Quizzes can be stand-alone, but they are also a useful tool in assessing understanding when placed at the end of a Course, Curriculum, or Success Track.
Success Track learning objects allow administrators to create a series or bundle of training that are related and must be completed in a particular order. Success Tracks are a pre-defined learning path of steps or objectives that must be taken in priority order before the next item is unlocked.
Survey learning objects allow administrators to create a non-graded evaluation form. Surveys are helpful to collect feedback from learners. Surveys are helpful for questionnaires to gather feedback from users about their experience with the course content and overall learning effectiveness.
The SCORM/AICC learning object stands for Sharable Content Object Reference Model. SCORMs are a set of technical standards that define how to create and share online learning. SCORM/AICC Learning Objects are a great way to contain videos, PowerPoint files, quizzes, and other interactive content. SCORM learning objects are useful for organizations that have created training outside of the ClearCompany Learning platform.
The xAPI/cmi5 learning object allows administrators to import e-learning content with the following format: Tin Can API, xAPI, and cmi5. The xAPI/cmi5 learning object enables organizations to offer seamless and interactive learning experiences while ensuring accurate data tracking and reporting. The xAPI/cmi5 learning object is a learning platform add-on. Reach out to ClearCompany.
The Chameleon Cloud learning object allows administrators to access the Chameleon dashboard, which allows users to choose from professionally designed static or interactive templates or build their own from scratch.
Video learning objects allow administrators to enable learners to demonstrate their understanding and communication skills through recorded video submissions. Once created, these objects must be properly configured to align with learning goals, user permissions, and assessment criteria. Video Learning Objects are an add-on for ClearCompany Learning. Refer to: Overview and Types of Video Coaching Learning Objects.
