LinkedIn Job Status
ClearCompany uses LinkedIn’s Job Status API to sync job posting status directly to each requisition’s Job boards page. This gives you immediate visibility into whether a job is live, pending, or blocked by an error.
Prerequisites: LinkedIn Apply or Recruiter integration.
LinkedIn job status sync:
- Syncs job status changes automatically between ClearCompany and LinkedIn.
- Prevents mismatched job visibility across systems.
- Keeps posting states aligned without manual checks.
Job status updates typically appear within a few minutes but may take up to a few hours. In some cases, LinkedIn may temporarily hold a job before approving or posting it.
From the Job boards page, you can:
- View the current LinkedIn posting status for each job.
- Open the LinkedIn job posting directly from ClearCompany, when available.
- Identify errors or status mismatches that may block applications.
LinkedIn Job Status Definitions
- Listed (includes a preview link): The job is live on LinkedIn.
- Sent → Not Listed: The job was sent to LinkedIn. We’re waiting for confirmation of success or failure.

- In Progress: ClearCompany has initiated the job posting, but LinkedIn has not yet returned a status update.
- Unknown: No additional status information is available at this time. Check back later for updates.
- The LinkedIn job post will list as “Not Sent” for a scheduled job and then change on the posting date to reflect the requisition status.
Viewing the Sync Logs
If a sync fails, the error appears in the Sync Logs.
Users with both Recruiter and User Admin permissions can:
-
Tools > Setup > Recruiting Setup > LinkedIn Integration within ClearCompany.
-
Select the Sync Errors tab.
Best practice: Review your Sync Logs regularly and resolve errors promptly.
Viewing Error Details
To review an error:
Select the blue Details button on the right side of the error row or select anywhere on the error row to open the related candidate or requisition.
Common Requisition Sync Errors
Why this happens
LinkedIn requires job descriptions to be at least 100 characters long. This error message indicates an issue with the length of the Job Description for a specific requisition.
How to Fix:
- Edit the details of the requisition in question to extend the length of the job description.
- Upon resaving the requisition, the sync to LinkedIn should automatically be retried. Check the Sync Logs to confirm if any other errors arose for this requisition.
- Saving retriggers the sync automatically.
Why this happens
This error message indicates an issue with the Posting Location data for the requisition. LinkedIn requires that a valid Zip Code and Country Code be listed for each job, even those that have Remote posting locations.
This means that Offices with a Nationwide Address location in ClearCompany are not supported and, if assigned to a requisition, will cause this error when syncing to LinkedIn.
Important Note
At this time, only organizations with the Apply Connect integration can post jobs with Remote locations. If your organization has the Recruiter System Connect (RSC) integration without Apply Connect, remotely located requisitions will fail to sync to LinkedIn. To enable Apply Connect for your organization, follow this integration setup guide.
How to Fix:
Edit the Office & Requisition Posting Location details by following the steps below:
- Navigate to Tools > Setup > Roles/Departments/Offices and select the Offices tab.
- Locate the Office tied to the requisition that is failing to sync.
- Click on the name of the Office and select 'Edit' to access the location details of the office. Update the office details to include an address location.
- Then edit the details of the Requisition in question by navigating to the Requisition > Details> Edit Details.
- Ensure that an Office with an address is assigned to the requisition.
-
Then, under Job Boards, confirm the Location for Job Boards and the Default Location.
This error usually occurs when LinkedIn is temporarily unable to process the sync request.
How to Fix:
Resave the requisition details. Wait a few minutes, then try syncing the requisition again. If the issue continues, contact ClearCompany Support.
Error: The poster email field with value "email" is not a valid email address.
Why this may happen
- The recruiter's email address listed on the requisition may not be valid.
- LinkedIn may be attempting to match the email to a LinkedIn Recruiter account.
How to Fix:
- Review the recruiter's email listed on the requisition.
- Confirm it is formatted correctly.
- Update if needed.
- Save the requisition to retrigger the sync.
If the issue continues, contact LinkedIn Support.

- Error message: [Paste the error message you are seeing]
LinkedIn blocked this job from being posted.
LinkedIn may limit free job postings if it detects potential misuse or policy concerns.
How to Fix:
Review LinkedIn’s job posting best practices and contact your LinkedIn Account Director if you need help restoring job posting access.
In some cases, LinkedIn may require a paid Job Slot subscription to continue posting jobs.
"Job was dropped" error
This error may occur for several reasons.
LinkedIn prevents duplicate postings. If a job title, location, and apply URL match an existing LinkedIn post, the sync fails.
In this scenario, a match was found for the requisition from ClearCompany and an existing LinkedIn job posting, and therefore, a duplicate post cannot be made.
Specifically, LinkedIn reviews the Job Title, Location, and Apply URL of the requisition being synced and compares that against existing Job Posts listed for your company on LinkedIn.
How to Fix:
- First, within LinkedIn, remove any manually created Job Posts that have a matching requisition within ClearCompany.
- Then, within ClearCompany, navigate to the requisition in question.
- Resave the requisition details to retrigger the requisition sync to LinkedIn.
LinkedIn may remove a job if:
- It is flagged by post quality filters
- A user reports it
Please reach out to an available LinkedIn Support resource, listed below, for more information on why the job was removed and how to resolve the issue.
Common Applicant Sync Errors
Why this happens
LinkedIn RSC requires both a first and last name to match a candidate to a LinkedIn profile. If ClearCompany cannot populate a full name, the candidate may be labeled as “Applicant,” which causes the sync to fail.
Specifically, if we can't automatically populate a candidate's full name in ClearCompany, they will be assigned the name "Applicant" on their candidate profile.
LinkedIn's Recruiter System Connect (RSC) requires a full name, consisting of a First and Last name, in order to successfully find a matching LinkedIn profile for the candidate.
How to Fix:
- Click on the Sync Log error record for this applicant to load their corresponding candidate profile in ClearCompany.
- Review the details of the candidate, such as their Resume/Application, and update their name information by selecting Actions > Edit Candidate Info from the candidate profile.
- Then, re-check the Sync Logs to confirm if any other errors arose for this candidate.
How to Re-trigger a Requisition Sync to LinkedIn
If a job fails to sync, you can manually retrigger it.
- Method 1: Resave the requisition.
- Method 2: Toggle LinkedIn posting.
