Creating a Requisition from a Requisition Template

After you have created some Requisition Templates, it's time to put them into action and create a Requisition in one step. This is a great way to simplify the Requisition creation process as the Template will do most of the work for you. In this article, we cover how to create a requisition from a requisition template.

What is a Requisition Template and why should I use it?

Requisition templates are templates that have been created ahead of time. They can save time for requisitions that contain similar information as prior requisitions. It also allows Admins to have guardrails so that when Hiring Managers are creating a requisition the information is consistent with what is needed.

Creating a Requisition using a Requisition Template

Requisition Templates can be used with both methods: the A-Method of Hiring and the Simple Form.

  1. Navigate to Tools then Recruiting. 1. Recruiting.png
  2. Click Requisitions. 2. Requisitions.png
  3. Click Create Requisition.Create Req.png
  4. You will see the two Creation Options: A-Method and Simple Form. Select the one that suits your needs.
Simple Form

If Simple Form is selected:

  1. In the Role Dropdown Menu, add the Role by typing the name in the search bar. Once it populates, select it. Simple Form- Roles.png
  2. In the Job Templates Dropdown Menu, locate the Requisition Template you created for the selected Role. It should appear as a Recommended Template (s). Simple Form- Templates.png
  3. Once the Requisition Template is selected, you will see all information that was included in the Template's creation automatically populate in the Requisition Setup.
  4. Ensure that the information from the Requisition Template applies to the requisition you're currently posting. When finished, either select Save & Close or Posting Options.
  5. If an approval process was assigned when creating the requisition template, you will see the option to Send for Approval. Simple Form- Approval.png
A-Method of Hiring

If A-Method of Hiring is selected:

  1. Select the initial information: Who the position will report to, and select Hiring for Existing Role.Position will report to.png
  2. Note: You can select Skip this Form, which will bring you to the Process & Description page. There you you can select a Title and still use the relevant Requisition Templates.
  3. In the Job Templates Dropdown Menu, locate the Requisition Template you created for the selected Role. It should appear as a Recommended Template (s).A Method Templates.png
  4. Once a Requisition Template is selected, all information in the template will automatically populate on the Process & Description and Budget Tabs.
  5. Ensure the following fields are set up correctly:
    1. Office and Department (required)
    2. Replacement (if applicable)
    3. Number of Openings
    4. How the Requisition will Close (if applicable)
  6. If you would like to add or review the information in the Start Tab, Goals Tab, and Skills & Competencies tab, you can do so now as well.
  7. If an approval process was assigned when creating the requisition template, you will see the option to Send for Approval.A Method Approval.png

When finished, continue to select your posting options, Post a Job Requisition.
