What is 10DLC?

10DLC (10-digit long code) is a regulation developed by mobile carriers to protect their consumers from receiving spam messages and unsolicited text message communications from businesses.  Users must have the option to opt-in or opt-out of receiving text messages from businesses.

How does ClearCompany comply with 10DLC?

As your talent management software platform, we are committed to ensuring compliance for your recruiting team, applicants, and candidates. ClearCompany has registered our company and use cases with the mobile carriers used for our ClearText feature, as well as added in-platform controls, in order to comply with 10DLC. These controls include a Candidate Opt-In/Opt-out feature which allows a candidate to decide if they would like to receive SMS messages from our system.

The Opt-In/Opt-Out feature is enabled for all texting customers (ClearText and TTA). This feature is not optional for texting customers and does not apply to customers who do not use our texting tools.

How do candidates Opt-In to receive texts?

When a candidate selects to apply for a position, they will be able to opt-in on the first page of the application. Any candidates that apply using Text-to-Apply will automatically be opted-in to receive text messages since they initiated the conversation.

How can a candidate change their Opt-In Status?

The candidate will be able to log into the Jobs Portal and will see the following section. Changing the Yes or No answer will update their status to Opted-In or Opted-Out, respectively.

How to view a candidate's Opt-In status

There are two places where you will be able to see a visual indicator of a candidate's texting status. A status will appear in the ClearText tool, located in the candidates' profile. As well as an indicator when navigating to the Edit Candidate Info page. Below are examples of how the different opt-in statuses will be shown.

      1. Opted-Out Candidate

      2. Opted-In Candidate

      3. Opt-In Unknown

By navigating to Edit Candidate Info, on the candidate profile, you will see the message below alerting you of the candidate's status. To navigate select Actions> Edit Candidate Info.

It will bring you to the page below where you can see the status of the candidate.

How to manually send an Opt-In request to a candidate?

If a candidate has opted out of receiving text message communication, they may communicate a change to the recruiter and the recruiter can check the box below. Checking the box will bring up an option for recruiters to click and send a text message to the candidate allowing them to change their communication preference.  A recruiter cannot opt-in a candidate ever.

What if a candidate's opt-in status is unknown?

If they have not opted in or out, recruiters can send a request to the candidate for permission to communicate via text message. The candidate can reply with "Opt-In" or "Opt-Out" in order to save their communication preference.
