FAQs
Does the candidate see my personal phone number when I text them?
No - we utilize a masking technology that shows a different (auto-generated) phone number to candidates when you text them. While you'll still send and receive texts from them as you do normally, the candidate won't have access to your mobile phone number unless you give it to them directly.
Can I have a specific number?
No- We do not assign specific numbers.
Can I text numbers outside the U.S?
Yes! ClearText supports sending and receiving text messages from the United States and Canada, without incurring additional charges.
Does it matter whether I text a candidate from my phone or from the ClearCompany app?
You always need to start the conversation from ClearCompany to use the ClearCompany Text feature; however, once the conversation is started, you are welcome to continue the conversation from either the application or your mobile device.
This is similar to closed-loop email capture - if you want the system to capture email correspondence between users and candidates, you need to begin the email conversation from the ClearCompany application.
I want to text multiple candidates at the same time. How can I do this?
You can send the same message to up to 25 candidates at a time through a Bulk Action. Learn how to bulk text candidates here.
How do I know if a candidate's phone number is a mobile number or not?
Even if you require candidates to indicate phone type and require a mobile phone number, you can't guarantee a phone number a candidate provides is mobile until you try texting it. The good news is that if you send a message to a non-mobile number, the system will send you an error message letting you know. See the example below.
Who can view the text conversations with the candidate?
Your text message conversations with the candidate are automatically saved and displayed in the ClearText tool and Timeline on the candidate's profile. Visibility into these conversations depends on both the permission level of the user viewing the candidate profile and the location in which they're viewing the texts. Review this article to learn more about historical text conversation visibility.
