Bulk Calendar Connect - GraphAPI

Follow

We've enhanced the Office 365 integration for calendars to support GraphAPI which provides you with a more secure and modern way to integrate your Office 365 calendars. With GraphAPI, Microsoft allows ClearCompany and our calendar integration partner, Cronofy, to request less access to your environment while also allowing you more control and visibility to the Cronofy access using the Microsoft administration console.

Note:

In order to set up or edit your organization-wide calendar integration, you must be a ClearCompany User provisioned with the IT Admin user permission. Check with your HR team if you’re unsure about your permission levels. Microsoft will require a user with Global Admin Access to set up the calendar integration.

Benefits of Connecting via GraphAPI

There are several benefits to connecting your calendar via GraphAPI. This provides you with the security you desire and a great update to your calendar integration, specifically for Office365 users. This also provides the ability to integrate your Microsoft Teams accounts in bulk to generate virtual interview links - a feature that was previously unavailable.

Improved Security
  • These enhancements increase the integration's security and now allow you more control over the access and management of your bulk calendar integration.

  • When utilizing GraphAPI rather than EWS (EWS is the Microsoft legacy API), an application access policy to limit the scope of Cronofy's application permissions can be configured within your Office 365 Exchange tenant.

    • If you wish to use Free/busy time blocks, that restriction can be configured in the Microsoft management/administration console. The toggle in ClearCompany will be disabled when you choose the GraphAPI option.

Automatically integrate MS team accounts in bulk
  • You will also be able to include the option to integrate all authorized users' Microsoft Teams accounts for virtual interview links. For more information, please see Integrate your Virtual Meeting Provider for Virtual Interviews
  • By configuring the connection to GraphAPI as a one-time setup, your IT department can connect all employees to Microsoft Teams to schedule 1:1 interviews with automatic Microsoft Teams virtual meeting link generation. This feature will allow you to bulk connect your Office 365 calendar and virtual interview links for Microsoft Teams.

How to Setup GraphAPI Connection

Microsoft’s Graph API offers an alternative to Exchange Web Services, this is only available to organizations using Office 365. Graph API allows for integrated conferencing via Microsoft Teams, as well as a simpler setup process for administrators. There is no need to create a Service Account or configure Application Impersonation.

Configure the Calendar Integration in ClearCompany

  1. Navigate to Tools > Setup > Calendars. Calendar Option.png

If you do not see the Calendars option, you may need to reach out to your ClearCompany Representative to ensure you have the bulk calendar integration enabled.

  2. Select the Yes button to indicate if you are utilizing the GraphAPI security method for connecting your calendars. bulk_connect_w_graphapi.png

          • Free/busy event visibility is configured in the Microsoft management or administration console for GraphAPI
  3. Click AUTHORIZE CALENDAR ACCESS yes_graphapi.png

  4. Office 365 is the only provider option when utilizing GraphAPI. You should log in as a user with Azure Active Directory Global Administrator access to your Office 365 tenant. This is the minimum level of access you will require to enable Enterprise Connect.

  5. Please keep in mind there are steps that need to be taken outside of ClearCompany before it is integrated. For more information on these steps, check out this article: Enterprise Connect for Office 365 (Graph API).

  6. After logging in, you'll be brought back to the ClearCompany Calendar Setup page and you should see a Sync in progress message.

How to Switch from EWS to GraphAPI

Bulk Calendar Already Connected? If your organization already has bulk calendars connected in ClearCompany, this will need to be disabled before you can connect using GraphAPI. Disconnecting your current EWS integration takes about 30 minutes.

Disabling the Calendar Integration

Navigate to Tools > Setup > Calendars and select Disable Calendar Integration. The integration can take about 30 minutes to be fully disabled.

Once the current EWS calendar integration has been disabled, follow the steps How to Setup GraphAPI Connection to set up the new calendar integration utilizing GraphAPI.
