Liveboard Overview
Liveboards function as interactive dashboards that display multiple Answers (charts and tables) on a single page. You can organize visualizations, add context with notes, and explore your data in real time.
With Liveboards, you can:
- Drill down into data points
- Filter or exclude values
- Reorder and resize visualizations
- Present live data in a slideshow format
You can pin charts and tables to:
- Liveboards you created
- Liveboards shared with you that include Edit permissions
Important Considerations
- Prebuilt Liveboards must be duplicated before adding custom filters.
- Liveboards are available to ClearInsights Max customers.
- Changes made while interacting with an Answer (e.g., drilling or filtering) are not automatically saved.
- Edit and save the underlying Answer if you want permanent changes.
Create a Liveboard
Before creating a Liveboard, create at least one Answer to pin.
Add an Answer to a Liveboard
Instead of saving an Answer independently, you can pin it directly to a Liveboard.
Liveboard Actions
Liveboards include several management options:
Delete: This deletes the liveboard completely. You also have the option to delete an Answer pinned on a Liveboard: The pinned Answer is removed from the Liveboard and is gone permanently. This doesn’t affect any other saved or pinned Answers. If it was the last Answer on the Liveboard, the Liveboard will prompt the user to add a new Answer.
Favorite: Mark a Liveboard as a favorite to quickly access it from the Favorites tab.
Private / Visible to All Recruiters: By default, Liveboards are private. To make a Liveboard visible to users, update the visibility setting using the lock icon. Depending on the liveboard and the data available, you will be prompted to select the permissions available to view the data:
- Recruiter (Recruiting Data)
- Offer Letter Admin (Offer Letter Data)
- Performance Admin (Performance Data)
- Performance Reporting (Performance Data)
- Goal Admin (Goal Data)
- Survey Admin (Surveys & Pulse Survey Data)
- IT Admin (One-on-One & Shoutout Data)
Share: Grant View or Edit access to other users.
Make a copy: Create a duplicate of a Liveboard to edit without changing the original.
Liveboards in the Recruiting section also have a separate duplicate button for prebuilts because they use custom fields. All other prebuilts do not use a duplicate button; they use the Make a copy feature.
Download PDF: Download the entire Liveboard or selected visualizations as a PDF.
Present: Use Present mode to display the Liveboard as a live slideshow with current data. During the presentation, you can drill down, filter, and explore data in real time.
Edit a Liveboard
Select Edit to:
- Rename the Liveboard
- Update the description
- Add tabs or filters
- Add notes
- Reorder visualizations
- Resize visualizations
- Delete visualizations
Additional options:
- Group multiple Answers together as a cohesive visual section.
- Customize background colors at the Liveboard and group level.
- Adjust Answer container styling, including corner curvature.
- Control visibility of group and Answer titles and descriptions.
- Refer to ClearInsights Max: Liveboard Grouping and Styling
Note
If Edit is unavailable, you do not have edit permissions.
Organize with Tabs: You can divide a Liveboard into multiple tabs to group related visualizations. For example, one tab may show executive KPIs while another includes detailed operational metrics.
If your Liveboard has multiple tabs, you can move the visualizations between tabs. To move visualizations to new tabs, follow these steps:
- Select the Edit button at the upper right of the Liveboard.
-
Select Move to tab. This option is not available if the Liveboard has only one tab or if the Liveboard has no tabs.
-
Select the tab to move the visualization to from the list of tabs in the Liveboard.
- Select Move.
- Select Save in the top menu.
Drill Down & Explore
You can drill into data points to see more granular details.
For example, if a department shows high performance, drill down to view individual contributors or specific metrics driving results.
Use Show underlying data to view the most detailed, unaggregated results.
Note
All underlying data are unaggregated views. If the answer is an aggregate (sum, average, etc.) and you view the underlying data, you will see the raw data, not the aggregate.
Liveboard filters
Liveboard filters allow you to apply criteria across multiple visualizations at once. You can:
- Apply include or exclude filters
- Create bulk filters
- Apply filters to specific tabs or visualizations
When to Use Liveboard Filters
Use Liveboard filters when:
- You want to apply the same criteria across multiple charts
- You are preparing data for a specific audience
- You want flexibility to change filter values frequently
- Open the Liveboard.
-
Select Edit.
-
Select filter.
- Choose a column.
-
Select include or exclude values.
- Select Apply.
- Select Save to make the filter permanent.
Filters and parameters that are not relevant to a tab are hidden by default when you open and view a Liveboard. You can choose to view all filters and parameters, including those that are not relevant to the tab, so that you can quickly create a new view or download the Liveboard without having to switch tabs and apply filters individually. The option to expand and view filters and parameters is only available when there are hidden filters and parameters on the tab.
To delete a filter
- Select Edit.
- Hover over the filter, and select the x that appears.
Note
- If no values are selected, then the default is all values, which displays as "(Select)".
- "0 selected" means it is using all values.
