Search
When performing searches, different elements will be highlighted in distinct colors to help you identify them:
- Attributes will appear with a blue background.
- Measures will appear with a green background.
- Keywords or Filters will appear with a gray background. These include terms like "top N", "sort by", "after", "quarterly", and more.
- A custom field name that is "included in reporting" AND matches either a system attribute or another custom attribute, ClearInsights automatically appends a number to the custom field in the report.
- The first number used to append is (2).
- If there are multiple duplicates, any duplicate would have a sequential appended number.
- Depending on when the custom fields are created, it's possible that a candidate or requisition might have values of N/A and/or {blank}, this is expected.
- The first number used to append is (2).
In the search bar, you may notice:
- Yellow highlights an ambiguous data value. Review the selected value to ensure it is being pulled from the desired attribute
- Red highlighting invalid syntax.
You can add a column name to the search bar by double-clicking on it from the left data panel or typing it directly into the search bar.
Use the data panel on the left to manually select attributes or type them in the search bar at the top. Note: This search bar is for selecting attributes only, not for asking questions.
The "versus" keyword allows you to compare different measures. This enables meaningful comparisons directly from the search bar.
Data Panel
Use the data panel on the left to manually select attributes or type them in the search bar at the top. Note: This search bar is for selecting attributes only, not for asking questions.
When entering a specific value in the search bar, check which attribute it's pulling from, as multiple attributes may share the same value.
Filters
Filters allow you to narrow down your results to only include the data that meets specific conditions. You can add filters to searches, tables, and views and the results will only show rows that match the filter criteria.
There are multiple ways to filter:
- Filter in Search Bar: When you add a data value to your search, it automatically becomes a filter.
- Filter in Bulk: For large datasets, you can create bulk filters by pasting a list of values, separated by commas.
- Filter from left panel: Hover your cursor over a column in the left data panel to view the filter icon. Select the filter icon to see a list of data values, and select which to include or exclude.
- Filter by Date: An enhanced date picker allows filtering by date in liveboards.
-
Filter from Y-Axis: Apply conditions directly from the Y-axis label (e.g., "Show only departments with total sales above 10 million").
Filters will adjust all Answers on the Liveboard. Adjust filter values and save the view for easy, one-click access in the future. Liveboard filters override individual Answer filters. For example, if an Answer is set to 30 days but the Liveboard is set to 90 days, the Liveboard filter will apply.
Right-click any data point on your Liveboard to filter the entire Liveboard by that value. For example, right-clicking “California” on a geochart and selecting Filter will update all visualizations to display data for California only.
Keywords
ClearInsights Keywords are a fast and effective way to execute advanced searches using predefined words. Keywords are grouped into the following categories:
- Basic Keywords - Use keywords such as ‘top’ & ’bottom’ for best and worst performing attributes.
- Date Keywords - Narrow down your search by days, weeks, months, quarters, or years.
- Text Keywords - Use this to find similar words or phrases that contain a certain word.
- Number Keywords - These keywords allow you to define your search by count, average, unique, sum, and ratio.
- Comparative Keywords- Filter keywords work in the same way as filters on table columns or chart axes.
