Tracking pixels or pixel tags, are small, invisible images (typically 1x1 pixels) embedded in emails or web pages. Tracking pixels in ClearCompany allows you to insert the pixel in the application completed page. Tracking pixels are used by recruiters and organizations to monitor and gather data about the applicant's interactions during the application process. In this article, we explain how pixel tags are used, their benefits, and how to add them to your ClearCompany applications.
Prerequisite: You must have the Recruiter and User Admin user permissions in order to view, create, or edit application templates.

How are tracking pixels used?
- Email Tracking: Recruiters can track whether a job application email has been opened by the candidate.
- Engagement Monitoring: Companies can see if candidates are interacting with their emails, such as clicking on links to job descriptions, application forms, or company websites.
- Timing Insights: By understanding when candidates open and engage with emails, recruiters can optimize their communication strategies.
- Follow-up Triggers: Knowing which candidates have shown interest can help recruiters decide whom to follow up with more urgently.
- Application Process Analytics: By embedding tracking pixels on the application web pages, companies can analyze which steps of the application process candidates are spending the most time on or abandoning.
Important note:
Depending on the type of tracking pixel that you use will determine what kind of data you are capturing.
How to Add the Pixel
The type of tracking pixel you wish to add to applications will determine exactly which steps you need to take to add the pixel. The sections below will walk you through the steps based on the type of pixel you're adding.
General Tracking Pixel
- Navigate to Tools > Setup.
- Select Applications under Recruiting Setup.
- Find the application you wish to add the tracking pixel to and click Edit.
- Select Settings in the application section bar at the top.
- Scroll down to the Completed Message text box and select '<> Source' button. Paste your tracking pixel into the text box.
- Scroll back to the top of the page and click the blue Save and Close button.
Glassdoor Pixel Tracker
In order to install a Glassdoor-influenced apply pixel tracker, follow the same steps in the section above for adding a general tracking pixel. The only difference is that you will need to remove a portion of the code for the pixel. When Glassdoor sends the tracker, it will usually have at the beginning and end a <script></script> or a <noscript></noscript> tag. To make sure the tracker works properly, these tags need to be removed when adding to your application.
The final tracker should look something like this:
<p><img border=“0” height=“1" src=“www.glassdoor.com/track/jobApply/complete.htm?partnerId=xxxxxx” width=“1" alt=””/></p>
Once the unnecessary tags have been removed, the tracking pixel can be added to the source code in the completed message text box.
Important Information
- Indeed purchased Glassdoor, which means any candidates coming from Glassdoor will now have the source "Indeed". If you have traditionally had Glassdoor as a significant source of candidates, you will see this decrease and the Indeed source increase.
- ClearCompany does not currently support Google Tracking Pixels or Google Tag Manager.
- If you do not want to add the tracking pixels to the application completion message, the Application Header will be the next best spot.
