Private Note Overview
Employee Journal notes help users document events and insights that can inform performance evaluations. There are two types of notes:
Private notes are for personal use as they are only visible to the author.
Private Notes are useful for:
- Recording key accomplishments, challenges, or skills learned.
- Keeping track of obstacles, such as a missed deadline due to external circumstances, for future self-evaluations.
Shared notes are useful for feedback on colleagues as they are shared with their manager. Shared notes help highlight a colleague’s contributions, leadership, or notable actions for their manager to reference during performance reviews.
Shared Notes are useful for:
- Recognizing a direct report’s leadership during a project.
- Providing timely feedback on a colleague’s performance for their manager.
- Highlighting contributions in cross-functional projects to ensure recognition.
Please note:
- Private Notes are only visible to the author.
- Shared Notes are only visible to the author and the recipient’s manager during the review process.
- Notes are never visible to other colleagues at any time.
