Clients utilizing the ADP Bi-Directional Connector have several options for how their users can access ClearCompany.
By default, any account using the Bi-Directional Connector will have Single Sign On automatically enabled. This means that your users will access ClearCompany via their ADP credentials. You also have the option if needed to use mixed mode authentication, which will allow users to log in either via ADP, or with ClearCompany specific credentials. Last, Single Sign On can also be fully disabled for your account as well.
Please read below for further detail on these options.
Single Sign On: Direct Link
You can access ClearCompany by navigating directly to your company's ClearCompany homepage URL (i.e. https://yourorganizationshortname.clearcompany.com). You will then be automatically redirected to an ADP login page:
Input your ADP credentials here and click Sign In. This will then direct you into your ClearCompany account.
Single Sign On: ADP Marketplace App
You can also access ClearCompany via app assignment through the ADP Marketplace. First, log in to your ADP account. At the top right, you will see a Marketplace image. Click this, then click My Apps in your ADP account.
Once you have clicked on My Apps, this will bring up a list of apps you have access to.
Scroll down to find ClearCompany, select this in your list of applications and this will log you into your ClearCompany account.
Don't see the ClearCompany app? Please see here for more information on app assignment
Mixed Mode Authentication
If you have a use case where you would like some of your users to access ClearCompany via Single Sign On, and some via direct ClearCompany credentials, mixed mode authentication can be enabled to accomplish this.
First, reach out to your Implementation Manager (new clients), Customer Success Manager (existing clients) or support@clearcompany.com to enable the mixed mode setting.
Once the setting is enabled, anytime your users access ClearCompany via direct link (i.e. https://yourorganizationshortname.clearcompany.com) they will be presented with the following options
Choosing "Sign In With SSO" will redirect them to use their ADP login credentials as detailed in the Direct Link section above. Choosing "Sign In with ClearCompany Credentials" will instead prompt them to log in with direct access credentials.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
If you cannot log in to ClearCompany via Single Sign On through ADP, please follow the steps below
- The initial step for any web based troubleshooting is to clear your internet browser's cache and cookies for all time. This will ensure, as one example, that old login credentials are not being used behind the scenes by your internet browser which would cause an error. Steps on how to clear your cache and cookies for most browsers can be found here
- If after clearing cache and cookies you are still unable to log in, try resetting your ADP password, closing all browsers, and then attempting to access again
- If steps 1 and 2 are unsuccessful, please have an administrator of your ADP account assign the ClearCompany app to your profile (see the link above in the ADP Marketplace App section for more details). Once assigned, try accessing ClearCompany via the app.
- Please note: The app is not required to access ClearCompany via Single Sign On, but our team has occasionally seen this work when issues arise
- If you are still receiving issues after following the steps above, please reach out to support@clearcompany.com for further assistance
Yes, if your company uses a separate IDP for Single Sign On (e.g. Microsoft Azure), please let your primary ClearCompany contact or ClearCompany support know, and they can update your SSO provider settings.
If there are employees in your ADP instance who do not have full ADP access (for example, contractors who are added via ADP Security Management but are not included in your ADP Payroll), these employees cannot access ClearCompany via Single Sign On. It is advised that you use the mixed mode authentication setup for those employees as described above.
