What does this mean?

The applicant's future question, also considered General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance is a regulation on data protection and privacy in the European Union and the European Economic Area. It was designed to give EU citizens control over their personal data.

Before an applicant starts their application for a position, they will be prompted to indicate whether or not they wish to be considered for future/other positions at your company. This lives as a toggle on the profile creation page.

If the applicant selects "No"

If the applicant selects "no" to indicate that they would not like to be considered for other positions now or in the future:

  • You will be unable to forward that candidate's profile to any other requisition in the system until such a point that the candidate revisits their profile and indicates otherwise.
  • This can be changed by the applicant at any time.
If the applicant selects "Yes"

If the applicant selects yes, you will be able to forward the candidate profile to other requisitions that you have access to.

  • The candidate can log in to their profile and change this preference at any time.

How do I determine if a candidate has opted out of Future Consideration?

If a candidate has opted out of future consideration for roles at your company, you will be unable to forward them to any additional requisitions. The Forward to another requisition button will be greyed out on their candidate profile and you will see a message indicating that the candidate has opted out.

How does a candidate change this preference or modify their profile?

The candidate can update their future consideration preference at any time in one of two ways:

Subsequent application
Through a subsequent application: The candidate will be able to indicate this preference each time they apply to a position with your company.
Jobs Portal
Through their applicant Jobs Portal which is found on your Careers Page in the lower right-hand corner of the job listings.

When the applicant clicks on the Jobs Portal button, they will be prompted to log into their profile using the email address they previously used to apply.

Once logged in to the Job Portal, a candidate can see any requisitions they may have applied to and the status of their application, attachments or documents they may have uploaded, future consideration, and text messaging options.

F.A.Q.

Can we disable the Future Consideration question in an online application?

In order to maintain GDPR compliance, you must explicitly ask candidates if they wish to be considered for future openings during their candidate application. If candidates indicate that they do not, then ClearCompany will automatically disable candidate forwarding to other requisitions. Some customers have an alternate interpretation of the GDPR requirements and do not find this question necessary for their compliance needs, so we have built in the ability to remove it upon request.

What is the process for disabling the Future Consideration question?
A superuser (a user with most permissions) has to make a request via email, either to the ClearCompany Representative or the Support team. Once a request has been made it will be documented and we will remove the question from your account.
