Overview
In this article, you will learn how to:
- Edit table columns using header controls.
- Rearrange, hide, or rename columns.
- Apply conditional formatting.
- Customize table display settings.
- Configure pivot table options.
Note
Chart and table settings are independent. Changes made in table view do not affect chart view, and vice versa.
Edit table columns
When you hover over a column header, an ellipsis (⋯) appears. Select it to access column-level options.
Filter data directly within a column.
Available filter conditions include:
- Greater than
- Greater than or equal to
- Less than
- Less than or equal to
- Between
- Is in
- Is not in
If a filter cannot be configured in the filter widget, you can apply it using the search bar.
Sort a column in:
- Ascending order
- Descending order
Control how long text appears in table cells and headers.
- Clip text: Displays only the beginning of the text. The full content appears if you increase the column width.
- Wrap text: Displays all content by expanding the cell height.
Rename the column header without changing the underlying data.
Remove the column from the table view. This does not remove it from the underlying search.
Apply formatting rules to measures or attributes within:
- Table cells
- Column summaries
Conditional formatting in tables is independent from conditional formatting in charts.
Configure visible and hidden columns
You can rearrange the column order of your table after adding all of your search terms.
To rearrange the column order:
- Drag and drop the attribute or measure that you would like to move to a new position. The order of columns in the Configure menu reflects the column order of the table.
You can hide a column from your table without affecting the underlying search. From the Visualized Columns section, select the column you want to hide, and drag it to the Hidden Columns section. Click Apply.
Format and sort data
You can apply advanced sorting rules.
When viewing a table, click the Column icon.
Pivot Table Customizations
A table view shows your data exactly as it exists in the system. Each row represents a single record, and each column displays a specific field. This format is best when you want to scan individual records, review details, or export raw data.
A pivot table helps you reorganize that same data to reveal patterns and relationships. Instead of viewing each record separately, you can group or anchor columns to summarize the information in a more meaningful way.
Pivot tables are especially useful when you want to analyze data across categories or see how different fields relate to each other.
For example:
- If you want to review each candidate application individually, a table view works best.
- If you want to group candidates by requisition to see how many applicants each job has, a pivot table makes this easier to visualize.
- If you want to group candidates by stage, recruiter, or department, you can anchor those fields in a pivot table to compare them side by side.
In short:
Table view: Best for reviewing raw records and detailed data.
Pivot table: Best for grouping, summarizing, and analyzing data across categories.
When using a pivot table, you can further customize the layout and summaries.
Available options include:
- Customize rows, columns, and values.
- Add grand totals and subtotals for rows and columns.
- Change summary position (top or bottom).
These options help you tailor pivot tables for clearer comparison and analysis.
Final Notes
Table configuration options allow you to refine how data is displayed without changing your underlying search. Use sorting, filtering, formatting, and layout tools to focus on the information that matters most.
