Ranks and Badges Overview
The Social Ranks and Badges feature has 3 options:
Badges: Badges are icon visuals that appear in the user's profile and front end to display the user's accomplishments. The learning platform provides the following default badges and admin users can create and customize badges.
- Critic (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3)
- Community Contributor
- Stay Organized
- Completionist (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3)
- Mentor
- Student
- Active User
Ranking: Ranks allow admin users to create and edit ranks in the learning platform. The default ranks in the learning platform are:
- Novice (50 Points)
- Learner (100 Points)
- Scholar (200 Points)
- Master (500 Points)
Set Points: Users earn points when they complete a training or an action. Point values for each action can be edited and created. Once enabled points will apply to users immediately, and determine the leaderboard rankings. See below for the actions users can set points for.
Creating a Badge
- Click Create New Badge. Admin users have an option to "Activate All Defaults" - which would enable the default badges in the system.
- Fill out the fields below:
- Name: Name of the badge.

Status-
- Active: Users will earn the badge.
- Inactive: Users cannot earn the badge.
- Release Date: When the badge should be active for users.
- Expiration Date: The date when the badge can no longer be earned.
- Send Email: Users can choose to send an email when the badge is earned. Users who earn the badge will see a pop-up message.
- Badge Icon: The badge visual, the learning platform has default icons available.

Upload Your Own Icon: Users have the option to upload their own icon images.
- Image Formats accepted are; jpg, jpeg, gif, png, and bmp.
- 300x300px is the recommended icon size.
- Click Continue.
After clicking continue, the Conditions tab will appear, and users can set the conditions for earning the badge.

The Users tab allows admin users to monitor who has earned the badge and also manually add a user who has already completed the actions.
When adding a user:
- The badge is added to the user's profile.
- When emails have been enabled for the badge, one will be sent out.
- When the user next logs in, they will receive the popup that notifies them they have earned the badge.
Creating a Ranking
The Ranking tab allows users to create new ranks and edit existing ranks. When creating rankings users set the number of points needed to get to the rank.
From the Ranking tab
- Click Create New Rank. Admin users have an option to "Activate All Defaults" - which would enable the default badges in the system.
- Fill out the fields below:
- Name
- Required Points
- Status
- Send Email
- Save
Set Points
Set Points allow admin users to set values for what actions are worth in the system. When point values are set, the points will apply to Users immediately, and determine where a User stands in the leaderboard gadget. Users have the actions of Users and Admin Users they can customize points for. See below for the actions.

Yes, to customize the email that users receive, navigate to Settings > Email Templates. Search for the following emails:
- User Badge Earned
- User Rank Achieved
