Using Custom Tags

Tags make it easier to find candidates or other users when searching or filtering within ClearCompany. These Tags can be customized, allowing you to define your most common categories such as Intern, Bilingual, or Certified in 'XYZ'.

Tags & ClearCompany

Type of Tag Description
Recruiting Tags are used to label candidates and prospects. Creating the building blocks for robust talent communities and Advanced searching within the Recruiting tool.
Talent Communities Tags are used as filtering criteria to build a customized prospect pool within a requisition's Talent Community. The system will review the records of past candidates against the tags labeled as a Potential Fit For, and include them in the Talent Community if a match is found.
Performance Tags are used in the Performance system for the inclusion and exclusion of certain user groups in a review or Survey cycle. Examples of using these tags in the Legacy and Express versions of Performance are below.
Surveys Tags can be used as inclusion criteria, declaring to include all users with the selected tag(s) as participants.

Adding Tags to Candidates
  1. Tags are added directly to the candidate or prospect profile under the Potential Fit For section. Location, Role, and Custom Tags will have distinct visuals to help quickly identify them.

  2. Click Add Tags to select an existing tag to apply to the profile. You can navigate to different types of tags and select the ones you want to add. They will appear under Selected Tags. Click Add Tags to save them.

Search for a Tag

Use the Search for a Tag menu to type and select the name of the tag that should be used as a filter. When defining the Tag criteria, you can choose to search for candidates that meet ANY (at least one) or ALL of the tags selected.

Bulk Tagging

Tags can be bulk-added to candidates from the candidate list view. By navigating to Tools > Recruiting Candidates.

  1. Using the checkbox, select the candidates you want to tag.Check Box.png

  4. Search for the tags you would like to add to the candidates selected.Search for Tags.png
  5. When done, click Add Tags.

Advanced Search

Tags can be used as filtering criteria when conducting an Advanced Search on your base of past applicants. The system will review the records of past candidates against the tags labeled as a Potential Fit For, and return them in your search results if a match is found. 

Use the Search for a Tag menu to type and select the name of the tag that should be used as a filter. When defining the Tag criteria, you can choose to search for candidates that meet ANY (at least one) or ALL of the tags selected. 

Tags & Performance

Tags are used in the Performance system for the inclusion and exclusion of certain user groups in a review or Survey cycle. Examples of using these tags in the Legacy and Express versions of Performance are below.

  Tags cannot be used as exclusion criteria in Express Performance. Continue reading for more details.

Legacy Performance

In Legacy Performance, you may want to include all users with a "Research and Development" tag, but specifically exclude any users with the "QA" tag. 

Express Performance

In Express Performance, you can use tags as inclusion criteria, to include all users with the tag(s) in the review cycle as participants. 

Tags & Surveys

When building the survey cycle, you can use Tags as inclusion criteria, declaring to include all users with the selected tag(s) as participants. 


F.A.Q.

Can I remove tags in bulk?

At this time no, only the addition of tags is available in Bulk Action.

What happens if the tag already exists?

If the tag already exists (as a Role, Office, or Custom Tag), the system will reuse it — no duplicates are created.

Are bulk tagging actions logged?

All bulk tagging actions are captured in the candidate timeline for traceability and collaboration transparency.
