Adding a Device Type to Devices & Equipment

Follow the guide below to learn how to add device and asset types to your organization’s Devices & Equipment list. 

Only users provisioned with the IT Admin permission on their ClearCompany account will be able to manage the types of devices and equipment.

 

1. Using the Tools menu at the top of your home screen, select World of Work from the dropdown menu

2. Click on the Devices & Equipment tab

3. Within the Device Types menu in the top left, click Manage Types

4. To add a new Device Type, click the Add a Type button in the top right corner

5. Now you’ll be adding some basic information regarding the device or equipment. At this stage, we recommend not getting too granular with the name but rather, keep it high level by naming the Asset Type. Examples could include Laptop, Phone, or Desk. 

6. Next, select an icon that resembles your device or asset type. This is an optional step and can also be left blank.

7. Finally, add one or multiple users to the Administrators List for this device/asset. The administrator is the person(s) at your company who is responsible for managing the physical asset. 

Good to know: Administrators will need to have a ClearCompany user account in order to be selected. Device/asset administrators will only be able to access their assigned devices if they’re not also provisioned with the IT Admin permission. Click here to learn how to add a new user.

8. Click Save & Close at the bottom of the page. Repeat for additional devices and equipment types!
