Non-Descript Titles

When job seekers are searching for employment opportunities, they seek roles that match their experiences and interests. Job seekers tend to overlook job listings that appear unclear, deceptive, or lack essential information. Make sure your job descriptions are clear!

Contextual Information
Job descriptions should primarily focus on providing information about the position such as the type of company, location of the position, or the teams the candidate will collaborate with. Some other contextual information would be the work environment, key responsibilities, salary and benefits, and working hours.
Concise Responsibilities
Clients should include details such as Salary and Employment Type in the Administrative Info section within their job description. This enables job boards to extract this information effectively when generating job postings. It's important to note that such details should not be incorporated into the Job Title, but rather placed within the job description. This information should be placed in the job description so they can be scrapped properly by third-party job boards, like Indeed.

Indeed Job Postings Guidelines

Indeed Best Practices
  1. Avoid Scammy Language: Please refrain from using language that may be considered deceptive or unprofessional. For instance, phrases like "Looking for wonderful people with wonderful hearts" in a job title are not appropriate. Such titles can trigger Indeed's automated flagging system and result in your job listing receiving zero visibility.
  2. Sign-On Bonus: Including "Sign-on Bonus" in the job title is allowed only if the requisition is sponsored. Any job listings with "Sign on Bonus" in the title without sponsorship will be flagged by Indeed and won't appear in search results or anywhere on the platform.
  3. Business Model:  Be aware that Indeed may flag job requisitions if they believe the business model is akin to a "pyramid scheme" or is otherwise questionable. It's essential to ensure your company's business model adheres to ethical and legal standards.
  4. Claim Company Page: Indeed automatically creates a free company page when scraping job postings. Clients have the option to claim and customize these pages as they see fit. This allows you to ensure the correct postings are associated with your company and to personalize the company's presence on Indeed.

  5. Salary Information: Some states require the inclusion of salary information in job postings. If your job listing is going to be visible in any of the following states and does not include salary information in the job description, it will be flagged and made invisible:
    • Colorado
    • California
    • Cincinnati
    • Connecticut
    • Maryland
    • Nevada
    • New York
    • Rhode Island
    • Toledo
    • Washington

ZipRecruiter Job Postings

Zip Recruiter Best Practices
  1. Content or Links: Job posters are prohibited from including content or links to content that are illegal, offensive, obscene, threatening, exploitative, violent, or inappropriate for any other reason.
  2. Photo or Video: Job posters must not require job seekers to submit a photo or video as part of the application process.
  3. Business Model: Job postings that fall under any of the following categories will result in suspension or removal:
    • Multi-level marketing opportunities
    • Unpaid internships or any other unpaid roles
    • Casting calls, auditions for modeling, acting, and/or talent management services
    • Survey collections, opinion participants, focus groups, etc.
    • Franchise/business opportunities
  4. Job Transparency: All components of job content and communication with candidates must accurately represent the job opportunity. Job postings should use industry-standard language, ensuring that qualified candidates understand the job's responsibilities, qualifications, and compensation.

Common Issues

Confirm Posting & Information

First, confirm if the requisition is currently open and posted. Check the Job Posting Details to ensure that the Public Job Board Status is marked as "Posted." Pay attention to the job title for any issues. You can access these details by navigating to the requisition and selecting "Details" under Job Boards.

Duplicate Job Postings

One of the issues you may be seeing is if you have submitted  a duplicate requisition, and the common causes for a duplicate are:

  • Posting the job manually on Indeed and also sending the job feed via XML. Indeed will remove duplicate postings.
  • Use of multiple applicant tracking systems (ATS) to submit requisitions, resulting in flags or removals.
  • Possessing multiple company pages on Indeed may lead Indeed to scrape the job postings on its own and eliminate duplicates.

Indeed Troubleshooting

My posting is on Indeed but not on the correct Company Page, what do I do?

If your job post appears on Indeed but not on the correct Company Page, please contact Indeed Support or your Indeed representative directly. Solutions may involve ensuring your company page's job data source is set to ClearCompany. Indeed can collaborate with you directly to resolve this, and you can include your ClearCompany representative in these communications as needed.

I cannot find my job post(s) on Indeed.

If your job post is not visible on Indeed, consider these factors:

  1. Indeed may still be reviewing your initial post request; check back after 24 hours.
  2. The information in your post request, such as the job title or description, may have been flagged by Indeed's guidelines, leading to non-display. Review your job information against Indeed's Posting Guidelines and contact Indeed Support for clarification. Posting Guidelines
My Salary range or Employment type is not aligned with the information shown on Indeed.

ClearCompany sends the Salary Range from the requisition detail. If the information is still misaligned, please contact Indeed Customer Support for assistance in correcting the salary data.

As of now, ClearCompany does not send Employment Type data listed on the requisition to Indeed.

I'm not receiving candidates in ClearCompany for my posted jobs.

Indeed uses an internal algorithm to determine which job posts are presented to prospective candidates and in which order. If you're not receiving candidates from Indeed, it may be due to the job post not effectively attracting a suitable audience.

For guidance on creating more appealing requisitions to attract candidates, you can refer to a webinar recording or reach out to your ClearCompany Representative. If the issue persists, please contact ClearCompany Support for further assistance.
