Assessment learning objects allow administrators to create flexible evaluations such as self-assessments, 180-degree, and 360-degree reviews. They support multiple question types and configurable results criteria to drive personalized learning paths.

Assessment objects are used to evaluate skills and competencies through a variety of question types including Linear Scale, Radio, Dropdown, Essay, and Text Box.
Creating an Assessment Learning Object
Follow the steps below to create an Assessment Learning Object.

From the Administration dashboard, click
Learning Objects > Manage Objects > +Add Object.
- Select Assessment as the Object Type.

Complete all required fields in the creation wizard:
- Object Name: Name of the assessment. Required.
- Description: A brief description that appears on the object detail page.
- Duration: Recommended format HH:MM:SS (visible to learners).
- Duration In Seconds: Backend field for transcript reporting (not front-end visible).
- Owner Group: Group responsible for managing this object. Required.
- Keywords: Optional search keywords for easy discovery (not front-end visible).
- Certificate Template: Certificate awarded upon completion (if applicable).
- User Can Review Answers: Allow learners to review their submitted answers.
- Intro Text: Message displayed before the learner begins the assessment.
- Completion Emails Enabled: Send email notification upon completion.
- Pre-Approval Enabled: Require admin approval before users can access the assessment.
- Object Release Date: Date the object becomes available to learners.
- Object Expiration Date: Date after which the object is no longer accessible.
- Comments: Internal notes for administrators (not visible to learners).

Status:
- Draft: Initial status allowing edits before release.
- Active: Makes the object available to users.
- Inactive: Hides the object while keeping it reportable.
- Click Save to display the remaining tabs for configuration.
Sections are used for grouping questions together. Every question must be associated with a section. They help create logical groupings of questions.
- Click Sections.
- Enter a section Name and click Add.
- Repeat for all required sections. Sections can be edited at any time.
This tab allows you to add questions to each section of the assessment.
- Section: Choose the section where the question will appear within the assessment.
- Question Type: Select the question format (e.g., Linear Scale, Radio, Dropdown, Essay, or Text Box).
- Question Text: Enter the full text of the question as it will appear to learners.
- Range (Start): For Linear Scale questions, define the lowest value on the scale (e.g., 0).
- Range (End): For Linear Scale questions, define the highest value on the scale (e.g., 10).
- Label (Start): Add a descriptive label for the low end of the scale (e.g., “Strongly Disagree”).
- Label (End): Add a descriptive label for the high end of the scale (e.g., “Strongly Agree”).
- Upload Image: Attach an optional image to display alongside the question text.
- Active: Setting this to yes will allow you to use this question in the Assessment.
The Results tab allows you to define conditions that trigger specific scores and their accompanying message based on a user’s total score.
- Result Text: The message that displays when the defined condition is met.
- Section: Select the section of the assessment the condition applies to.
- Comparator: Choose how the system compares a user’s score (e.g., greater than, less than, or equals).
- Point Target: The score threshold that must be met to trigger the result.
- Active: Toggle whether this condition is currently active and evaluated by the system.
Add users or faculty as authors of the assessment object.

Add searchable tags to help users find this assessment in the catalog.
Require completion of other objects before learners can access this assessment.
- Enter the prerequisite name, description, and mark as Active.
- Click Add, then use Items to assign prerequisite objects.
Add equivalent objects that satisfy completion if the learner has completed similar training.
- Any object type can be made equivalent to another object type.
- Multiple objects can be added; all must be completed to skip the assessment if configured.
Allow learners to start new instances of the assessment without reassignment.
- Ensures only one instance of this object is open at a time.
- If enabled, learners can retake the assessment as a new instance once the previous instance is closed.
Add or remove individual users who can access this object from the front end.
Add or remove groups that can access the assessment in the All Training library.
When editing a saved Assessment object, the General tab expands to include additional menu items.
- Update Object Image: Upload or replace the image associated with the assessment.
- View On Front End: Opens the object as learners will see it on the platform’s front end.
- View Smart Report Card: Access a performance summary displaying learner progress and completion data for this assessment.
- View Pre-Approval: View and manage any pending pre-approval requests for user access to this object.
- Generate QR Code: Create a scannable QR code linking directly to the object for quick learner access; note that QR codes cannot be generated in bulk.
Additional Information
From Learning Objects > Manage Objects, you can filter assessments by Author, Status, Type, or Tag and edit existing objects using the pencil icon.
Cloning allows you to copy an existing assessment. To clone:
- Open the General tab of an existing assessment.
- Click Clone Object in the lower right corner.
- Choose which options (Pricing, User Access, Group Access) to include, then click Clone.
- The cloned object will be created in Draft status for editing.
