Tips & Tricks
We recommend testing your review multiple times to ensure that you and your team are on the same page with reviews. We recommend running at least 3 test review cycles:
- Alone: You (the performance admin) test until you are happy with the review. You can do this by creating fake users and playing all of the parts in the review cycle. Tips on how to play all parts are below.
- With Peers: Involve a couple of key peers, and edit your reporting structure so each person plays one part.
- With Managers/Execs: Involve your manager and any executive sponsors. Launch a test review for them to participate in and have each person play one part in the cycle.
Once you are done testing, be sure to:
- Delete any test users.
- Delete any test review cycles.
- Revert your reporting structure to properly reflect your organizational hierarchy if you made any changes to it in the testing process.
Testing a Review
In order to fully test every step of your review alone, you will be logging into the system as multiple users (i.e. Test Subject, Test Manager, Test Approver). There are a couple of ways you can do this:
- Use one email and one browser for all users.
- The key to successful testing is to ensure you log out each time you complete a stage as a test user
- For example, if you are playing the role of the review subject, follow the link in the email, log in as the review subject, fill out the review, and then log out.
- Then, you will get another email as if you were the manager.
- Follow the link in that email and log in as the manager. Fill out the review and then log out. Continue for all stages.
- Use separate emails and separate browsers for all users.
- Give the review subject your work email address and give the manager your personal email address when setting them up in ClearCompany.
- When testing, open Chrome and log in to your work email. All emails to your review subject will come to this inbox and you will stay logged into ClearCompany as the review subject in this browser.
- Open Firefox and login to your personal inbox.
- All emails to your test manager will come to this inbox and you will stay logged into ClearCompany as the manager in this browser.
- This will also work with an incognito window.
