ClearCompany’s onboarding system integrates with Simplifi-9 to provide organizations with an advanced I-9 and Everify solution. The following steps apply to organizations utilizing the most updated version of this integration. If you had the integration enabled after July of 2022, you are on the latest version. To receive the latest version, follow the migration process listed here.
I-9 Process Summary
- Add the Simplifi-9 I-9 to the employee’s onboarding packet. Click here for instructions.
- New hires will fill out Section 1 of their I-9 directly from the onboarding packet. Once finished, their portion of the I-9 will automatically be marked as complete in the onboarding packet.
- Admin users will complete Section 2 of the I-9 through Simplifi-9, accessible from ClearCompany’s World of Work center. Completion of Section 2 will automatically send the I-9 to the government through E-Verify.
I-9 Section 1 - New Hire Experience
As a new hire, you complete the I9 directly within your onboarding packet, without going to a separate Simplifi-9 website, for a seamless experience. Follow the steps below to learn how to complete the I-9 on your mobile or desktop device.
- Log into your onboarding packet and open the I9 task.

Begin by entering your information on the first page of Section 1. If you attempt to skip required fields like "City" or "Zipcode", the field will be highlighted red and you will be unable to move forward. Click Next.
- The system will auto-populate "City" and "State" based on the "Zipcode" entered. It will also auto-format "Date of Birth" to be USCIS compliant.

Indicate your citizenship status by selecting the correct option. Click Next.
If you have any questions regarding which status you fall under, or where to locate information, you can hover over the green icon to get definitions and additional directions.

Select whether or not you had assistance completing the Form I-9. If someone is, you'll be prompted to enter their information. Click Next.

Review the summary of your entered information and if needed, make edits before submitting Section 1. If you notice any discrepancies or missing information, you can click the blue pencil to be redirected to that portion of the I-9. Click Next.
- Enter your full name to digitally sign the I-9. Confirm you've read the statement and click Next.
- On the pop-up, click Finish to submit your I-9. You'll then be prompted with a submission confirmation page Click Next. Once selected, Section 1 of the I-9 is automatically marked complete within your onboarding packet.
If the I-9 is not completed in one sitting, daily reminder notifications will be sent from Simplifi-9 via email.
I-9 Section 2 - Admin Experience
As an admin user responsible for completing Section 2 of I-9s, you will receive an email from Simplifi-9 once Section 1 has been submitted by a new employee and is ready for your actions. At this time, a task will not be assigned to you within ClearCompany. The I-9s are located within the Simplifi-9 dashboard which can be accessed through ClearCompany by following the steps below.

To access the I-9s in Simplifi-9,
- Click My Apps, from the top of your homepage.
- Click the Simplifi-9 app.

Once logged in, you will have access to your company's Simplifi-9 dashboard. Locate your employee's I-9 form by clicking the Section 2 Pending box.

Locate the employee's name and select Complete Section 2, found on the right.

In the First Day of Employment field, enter the date of the employee's first day of work. Click Next.

In the Employment Authorization Documents section, the documentation options listed directly correlate to the citizenship status detailed by the new hire in Section 1.

Clicking on each relevant document option will bring up a form for you to fill out with the employee's information.

Each document gives the option to indicate if the document is a receipt. A receipt means that the documentation given is a temporary placeholder until the actual documentation arrives. This box will only need to be checked if the employee gives a receipt.

You are also given the opportunity to detail any extra details necessary about the employee before continuing. Click Next.

Then, upload all relevant support documents provided by the employee. Once uploaded, you can view the document by pressing the eye icon. You can also delete the document by pressing the X icon and edit the file name by pressing the pencil icon.

Finally, type your name in the Signature field to give your electronic signature and indicate that you have read the statement about attesting under penalty of perjury. Completing this step by clicking Save & Finish will queue the I-9 for E-Verify.
