As part of the optional Hiring Compliance Guardrails setting, recruiters and hiring managers are required to use a job template when creating requisitions. Users with permission to manage these requisition templates have the ability to lock certain fields from being edited by hiring managers, however, these locked fields can be unlocked and edited by recruiters. In this article, we cover how users interact with locked requisitions fields.

Locked Requisition Fields
Locked Requisition fields allow admins and recruiters to limit the changes that hiring managers and others can make when posting a requisition from a requisition template. When a user creates a requisition and locked fields are applied, they will see that the field cannot be changed. This allows for organizations to keep consistent information across different requisition postings.
Which fields can be locked?
The following fields can be locked on a requisition template:
- Job Description
- Salary
- Approvers
Requisition Templates: How to lock and unlock fields
Follow the steps in this article to learn how to create and manage job templates. While creating or editing the job template, you will see a lock icon that can be clicked to lock/unlock the Job Description, Salary, or Approvers sections.
- From the Create Requisition Template page, a user can click on the lock icon and that locks the fields. The admin or recruiter locking the field will be alerted that this will make it uneditable to hiring managers.
When creating a requisition template, keep in mind that under Location(s) for Job Boards (US) you can add multiple locations as part of Job Postings: 1-to-Many Locations. A hiring manager will not be able to add more locations so it is best if when creating a requisition template the locations are added. To learn, more check out: Job Postings: 1-to-Many Locations.
Users' Experience with Locked Fields
Hiring Managers are unable to edit any fields that are locked. Non-editable fields that can not be edited will be marked with a lock symbol. Recruiters can unlock and edit all previously locked fields during the requisition creation process.
Note: When a requisition has a locked Salary range, offer letters created for candidates in this requisition will require at least one non-self approver if the sender enters a pay amount that doesn't match the specified range. Please see this article for more information: Hiring Compliance: Offer Letter Approvals
A Hiring Manager will navigate to create a requisition and for any locked field they will see the locked icon. Hovering over the icon will alert them: "This field is locked and cannot be edited. Talk to your recruiter to unlock."
A recruiter will navigate to create a requisition and for any locked field they will see the locked icon. Hovering over the icon will alert them that this field is locked and that unlocking it will make it editable for hiring managers.
A user can click on the lock and a warning window will appear, alerting them that this field was chosen to be locked, and if they are sure they want to unlock.
- No, Keep Locked: Will keep the field locked and they will be returned to the create requisition page.
- Yes, Unlock: Will unlock the field and they will be able to edit.
- They can click the lock icon again to lock the field again and they will have to go through the same process.
