What is ADP WOTC?
WOTC or Work Opportunity Tax Credit is a Federal Tax Credit program available to all companies regardless of size or industry, with the exception of non-profits. The program is designed to stimulate employment opportunities for people who typically experience certain barriers to employment, such as military veterans, public assistance recipients, and other specific target groups. ADP WOTC allows clients to see if a company is eligible for the credit based on their hiring.
How do applicants use the WOTC Integration?
When a candidate applies for a position at your company with the ADP WOTC integration enabled, the application will redirect them to complete the Work Opportunity Tax Credit Form. Once they are finished with the form, they will be redirected back to ClearCompany to complete the application.
How do Admins use the WOTC integration?
Once a candidate has completed their application and the WOTC form, they will appear in ClearCompany. A user with the Recruiter or Hiring Manager permission can then navigate to the candidate profile where they will be able to see the Pre-Hire Eligibility, Post-Hire Eligibility, and Send the Hire to ADP.
Statuses Available
- Eligible: Based on the information submitted, the candidate is eligible for the credit.
- Not-Eligible: The candidate either answered the WOTC Survey questions in a way that makes them ineligible or the candidate opted out of the WOTC Survey.
- Not-Screened: The candidate did not complete their entire application, including the WOTC redirect section or ClearCompany did not accurately receive the status from ADP once the WOTC survey was complete.
- Accepted: Displayed when the information is sent to ADP and the information has been accepted and received by ADP.
- Error: An error can appear if the candidate already exists in the client ADP Payroll. This is determined by their Social Security Number.

Post-Hire Calls
In order to take advantage of your eligible tax credits, ADP must be notified when you've hired a candidate. We've created a process that allows the system to automatically send the Hire Call to ADP based on the trigger determined during the setup of your integration. Alternatively, you can manually send the Hire Call to ADP via the candidate profile.
Automatic Hire Call Event Triggers:
To view or change the event used to trigger the automatic hire call:
- Navigate to Tools > Setup, and click Requisitions from within the Requisition Setup column.
- At the bottom of the Requisitions page is the setting for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) Hire Call Event Trigger.
- The automated options include:
- Onboarding Packet Completion: since the onboarding packet has been completed, we will automatically send the WOTC information to ADP.
- Hired Workflow Stage: When the candidate is moved to the "Hired" workflow stage.
- None: Clients will have to manually send the information to ADP. Learn how to do so below.
Manually Sending the Hire Call:
After an offer is extended and the onboarding packet has been assigned, the Recruiter or Hiring Manager must alert ADP via the WOTC integration on the candidate’s profile that the candidate has been hired. Their Post-Hire Eligibility status can be viewed after completing this action.
- Send an offer letter to the candidate
- Send an onboarding packet to the candidate
- The candidate does not need to complete the packet items in order to send their data for the purposes of ADP WOTC.
- Once the 2 items above are complete, navigate to the candidate's profile and scroll down to the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) section
- Click WOTC Actions to the right of the section header, then click Notify ADP WOTC of Hire
- The Post-Hire Eligibility field will display the status of the candidate’s eligibility once the data is successfully sent to ADP
Resending WOTC Form to an applicant
When an applicant has not completed the form, the status will be displayed as:
1.
2.
By Navigating to the candidate profile and under WOTC Actions, the WOTC form can be resent by selecting "Resend to candidate for completion."
