Additional Actions & Information

Time Bucket

Specify time bucketing

You can specify date bucketing at many granularities, from detailed (to the minute or second) to yearly, depending on your data. You can also specify bucketing based on the position of a bucket relative to another, larger bucket. For example, you can group data by month of quarter, or week of month. To bucket your data in a chart view:

  1. On the visual, click on a date field in the axis, then click Time Bucket.Time Bucket.png
  2. ClearInsights chooses a default date bucket for you when you search. This default takes the entire search result into account. For example, if your search includes last month, dates are bucketed daily instead of monthly.
  3. When you add multiple date keywords to a Search, ClearInsights preserves the date bucketing implied by the first date keyword.
Period Grouping

Period Grouping

  • Period Grouping: To make comparisons more meaningful, it's important to compare the same time frames. For instance, typing "recruiting quarterly" compares recruiting for each quarter.
  • Switching Time Periods: Modify your search to analyze "Recruiting Yearly Quarter of Year", and switch to a column chart for better visualization.
  • Combining Time Keywords: You can combine keywords like "quarter of year" and "yearly" to compare the same quarter across multiple years.

Change chart colors

Change the color chips for a column or a value. You can set custom colors for bars, lines, areas, bubbles, maps, and other chart types. You can also "slice" with color, set legends on charts, and enable conditional formatting in tables.

You can also apply a conditional format to change the color, based on specified criteria. This type of conditional formatting does not work with Line charts. Colors are maintained across searches within a session.

Set colors from the legend
  1. While viewing your search or answer as a chart, click the color chip for the column or value you would like to change.
  2. Use the color picker to choose a new color to represent that value.
    • You can also enter a HEX value directly.
    • Your changes are saved immediately.Legend Color.png
