Coupons provide a flexible way to offer discounts on learning objects within the E-Commerce module of your Learning platform. Super admins can create customized coupons that align with promotional strategies or internal pricing models. This article covers how to create, configure, and manage coupons and how users can apply them during checkout.

Coupon Management Overview
The Coupon Management feature is part of the E-Commerce add-on in the Learning platform. It allows Superadmins to:
- Create percentage-based or fixed-amount discounts
- Control coupon usage through restrictions
- Customize coupon validity periods
- Offer targeted promotions for specific users or learning objects
Rights
Superadmin users will have access to Coupon Management. Users can be given the following rights to provide access to:
- Ecommerce
- Ecommerce - Manage Items
- Ecommerce - Manager Orders
Coupon Management Navigation
Follow these steps to create and configure coupons:
- From the administration dashboard, click E-Commerce, then select Coupon Management.
- Click +Add Coupon.
- Complete the following fields:
- Coupon Code: A unique code that users will enter during checkout.

Discount Type: Choose one of the following:

Dollar Value (e.g., $20.00 off)

Percentage (e.g., 25% off)

- Coupon Discount: Set the discount amount or percentage.
- Valid On: Define the coupon’s start date.
- Valid Thru: Define the coupon's end date.

Number of Uses: Specify the coupon's usage restrictions:
- Unlimited (1 Use per User): Each user can use it once.

Single Use: One-time use by the first user who redeems it.

Other: Set a specific number of total uses; each user can still use it once.

Max Item Quantity:

Coupon Applies to Entire Cart: Discount applies to all items.

Coupon Applies to up to “X” items: Discount applies to a limited number of items (starting with the least expensive).

- Apply Discount: Choose whether the discount is applied, Before Tax or After Tax.

Status
- Active: When active, the coupon can be used by users.
- Inactive: When inactive, the coupon is disabled and cannot be used.
Restrictions
Once the coupon is saved, additional restriction options become available:
- Access Restrictions: Limit coupon usage to specific users or groups. Ineligible users will see the message: “You do not have access to this coupon.”

Usage Restrictions: Limit which learning objects the coupon can be applied to, based on:
- Specific objects
- Tags
- Authors (faculty or user)
If a user tries to use the coupon on an ineligible item, they will receive the message: “this coupon is not valid for any items in your cart.”
Front-End User Experience
When users are purchasing learning objects on the learning platform:

With an object added to the cart, click the Shopping Cart icon.

Enter the Coupon Code, then click Update to apply the discount.
Purchase for Other Users
To purchase the object for other users:
- Click Add under the Quantity section.

Select the desired users, and click Submit.

Click Checkout Now to begin the checkout process.

Currently, coupon usage details are managed under E-Commerce > Orders, where Superadmins can view order data and coupon application history.
