This guide will instruct you on how to add, edit, and delete your organization's departments.
Departments are tied primarily to Role Setup. They are also key to setting up the following areas of the system:
- Performance Reviews
- Requisitions
- New Hire Packets
- Roles
- User Profiles
Add a Department
1. Navigate to Department Setup via Tools>Setup>Roles/Departments/Offices. Select the Departments Tab.
2. To add a Department, select the Add Departments Dropdown Menu. Select Add Department to add a single Department, or select Import Departments to add more than one Department.
Using Add Department
- This option will allow you to fully set up the single Department with additional information like Coordinator, Department Head, Industry, Business Function, HR Business Partner, and a Custom Department ID.
- When finished, select Save.
- Note: The only required field to set up a Department is the Department Name.
Using Import Departments
- This option will allow you to add multiple Departments at one time. Each Department will need to be listed on a separate line.
- If you like, you can also add a Custom ID for each department using a Delimiter. The below image is an example with the Pipe Delimiter in use so a Custom ID can be added to each Department.
- When finished, select Add Departments.
Update a Department
1. To edit an existing Department via Department Setup, select the Department you would like to edit from the list. Select Edit.
- Note: This is also where you can add additional information for Departments that were added via a Department Import.
2. Make any necessary updates to the Department.
3. When finished, select Save.
Delete a Department
1. Via the Department Edit Page, you can delete a Department from this page by selecting Delete Department.
Helpful Hint: Deleting a Department is permanent can not be undone.
2. If any Users/Requisitions are associated with this Department, a prompt will appear with the number of Users/Requisitions associated with it. You will need to reassign these Users/Requisitions to a new Department via the Dropdown Menu provided before deletion.
3. Once a new Department is selected, select Reassign and Delete.
